Our take
A Delaware-registered, founder-owned host (since 2002) whose real business is dedicated and edge servers in Michigan, New Jersey, Dallas and seventeen European cities, with a 4-core Xeon from $79/mo on a 12-month term. The shared and VPS lines exist but the website quotes four different price sets for the same shared plans, hides a $10 VPS setup fee until the cart, and publishes no renewal price at all. Buy the dedicated servers on their merits; treat everything else on the site as a draft.

Pros
- Dedicated servers from $79/mo (12-month) in the US and Europe, edge servers with 5–30 Gbps ports, colocation from $99/U
- Own ARIN network (AS46873), 24/7 phone, ticket and chat support, 99.99% network SLA with 5% credit per 30 minutes
- cPanel or CWP on shared plans, dedicated IPs from the second tier up, Cloudflare CDN included
Cons
- Renewal pricing is not published anywhere; terms allow CPI increases on annual dedicated contracts and 30-day price-list changes on cloud
- Shared plans are annual-only and quoted at four different prices across the site; VPS month-to-month is $18.36 plus an undisclosed $10 setup fee

HostColor, beyond the scorecard

Plans, as published
HostColor's core product is dedicated hardware. The US list starts at $79/mo on a 12-month term for a Xeon E3-1265Lv3 (4 cores, 16 GB, 480 GB SSD, 1 Gbps port with 250 Mbps unmetered) or an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (64 GB, 1 TB NVMe); it runs through E5 and Xeon Gold boxes ($129–$269) to an EPYC 9254 with 1 TB of RAM at $1,590 and 'edge' servers with 20–30 Gbps ports at $499–$1,699. The cart shows the E3-1265Lv3 at $109 / $99 / $89 / $79 on 1 / 3 / 6 / 12-month cycles with no setup fee. A 'cheap dedicated' page goes down to an Atom D525 at $19/mo. Europe (Amsterdam, London, plus edge sites in Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Oslo, Milan, Munich, Paris) starts at $79–$95 with 10 Gbps and GPU options; the EU cart adds 20% VAT for EU buyers. Managed dedicated is $99.95/mo for two admin hours; colocation is $99–$159 per U on a one-year contract with $250/hour remote hands.
The rest of the catalogue: self-managed cPanel/CWP shared hosting in four tiers — Blog $9.99 (1 site, 10 GB, 1 TB), CMS $14.99 (3 sites, dedicated IP, free first-year domain), Social $19.99 (5 sites), E-Commerce $24.99 (7 sites) — sold on 12, 24 or 36-month cycles only, with $1–$2 off per month for the longer terms; managed shared from $59 to $99/mo; 'Go Serverless' WordPress environments from $69/mo on an annual subscription ($99 monthly) or $119 on bare metal; SSD VPS 1 at '$9.95' (1 core, 2 GB, 20 GB, 8 TB) on a 36-month term — the cart shows $18.36 monthly plus a $10 setup fee — up to VPS 7 at $179.95; SATA VPS from $4.95; CloudWeb public cloud from $15 (12-month) or $19 monthly in 20 locations; reseller from $29. Support is 24/7 by phone, ticket and live chat; the hardware-replacement clock in the SLA runs only 9 to 5 Eastern on weekdays.
The renewal math
Not published, so listed as not verified. No plan page or cart cycle carries a renewal figure; the self-managed shared page shows struck-through prices with the label 'Annual Payment' and no explanation. The general terms say only that services 'will be billed on a recurring basis' until you cancel, and that 'no discounts are available for services or products that have not been renewed prior to the expiration date'. The dedicated terms default every online order to a one-year contract and let HostColor raise monthly fees by the Consumer Price Index during a term (once per twelve months), or 'by any amount' on seven days' notice for month-to-month servers. The cloud terms bill 'the then-current applicable price list' with 30 days' notice of increases.
Our read: the cart figure is today's recurring rate, nothing promises it will hold, and the contract structure matters more than the price. An annual dedicated order that you cancel early makes every remaining month's invoice due before the cancellation is approved; the alternative is an 'on hold' status at 20% of the monthly fee for up to three months. Ask sales for the renewal rate and the contract term in writing before ordering a server.

Choose HostColor if
- Buyers who want an inexpensive dedicated or edge server in the US Midwest, New Jersey, Dallas or Western Europe on a 12-month commitment
- Technical operators who manage their own OS and applications and only need infrastructure support
- Colocation and high-bandwidth (5–30 Gbps) use cases where the per-port price beats the hyperscalers
Look elsewhere if
- Anyone who needs a published renewal price — there is none, and the terms allow increases
- Small shared-hosting buyers — annual-only billing, four conflicting price lists, and a 10 GB per-site cap in the terms
- Month-to-month VPS buyers — the advertised $9.95 needs a 36-month prepay; monthly is $18.36 plus a $10 setup fee
Migration notes
Inbound shared: a $5 one-time cPanel-to-cPanel restore from a customer-supplied full backup, or do it yourself free with support's help if it breaks; WordPress moves via a bundled Backuply plugin or a manual backup restore. No free-migration claim appears on any plan page, and nothing is published for VPS, cloud or dedicated moves. Outbound: standard cPanel backups while the account is active; once it expires, data recovery is a $39/hour 'CDF' service. Cancellation must be filed from 'Request Cancelation' in the client area at least five days before the billing date; missing that window means a pro-rated refund minus a $10 cancellation fee, and any chargeback carries a $150 penalty.
Honest limitations
Money-back terms by product line: 30 days on shared hosting — later narrowed in the same document to 'Shared Hosting paid on annual basis' — 30 days on the hosting fee only for managed shared, 7 days on reseller, 15 days on VPS, none on dedicated, colocation or cloud servers; setup, SSL, dedicated-IP and domain fees are never refunded. Shared resource rules are strict and documented only in the knowledge base: 15–25% of system resources measured over one minute, 30 concurrent processes, 35 mail checks per hour per IP, PHP memory of 128 MB (256 MB on Multi Domain) against the '1 GB PHP Memory Limit' printed on the plan pages, and sites over 10 GB removed from the backed-up arrays. Bandwidth over quota is billed at $0.10/GB shared, $0.05 VPS and $0.03 dedicated, contradicting the homepage's 'we don't charge for data transfers'. Backups are the customer's responsibility unless purchased. The site says '100% uptime network' where the SLA guarantees 99.99%; it quotes '120+', '100' and '120+ POPs' for its footprint and concedes in the terms that many are third-party tenancies; the late-fee figure is 2.25% in the terms, 2.5% in the knowledge base and 1.5% per month in the SLA; and no legal document carries a last-updated date. Host Color LLC was incorporated in Delaware in 2003 (team from 1999, shared hosting from 2002), is owned by its two founders, and lists mailing addresses in New York, Wilmington and its former South Bend facility.
Two observations from the HostColor review article that now redirects here: the Michigan capacity is named as the 123NET facility, and HostColor's own client portal resolved to a Dallas address block rather than to any of the facilities it sells from — worth knowing if you are buying on the strength of a specific location.
Testing status: we haven't load-tested HostColor ourselves yet. This profile is built from vendor documentation, published plan specs and SLAs, and long-running community reports — and the pricing above is verified on the vendor's site, not copied from marketing. See how we test for exactly what that means.
