Plans, as published
Hivelocity sells unmanaged bare metal — single-tenant physical servers you provision self-serve. The catalog moved under us between passes: the flat $75/mo Xeon E-2336 config we recommended in August 2026 has left inventory entirely (we checked the main list and the Outlet). As of September 2026 the cheapest listed config is a Xeon E-2236 with 16 GB of RAM at a promo $97/mo against a $129/mo regular rate — which means the entry point now carries exactly the intro-vs-regular step the old config avoided.
Because it's unmanaged, the price is for the hardware and network only. There's no managed-ops layer in these figures; that responsibility is yours (see limitations).
The renewal math
The E-2236 promo ($97/mo) reverts to $129/mo, a ~1.3× step — confirm the renewal rate on the specific config you configure at checkout. Bare-metal catalogs change more often than shared-hosting menus (the disappearance of the $75 flat config between our August and September passes is the proof). Worth knowing: Hivelocity launched an Outlet Store in September 2026 — prior-generation servers at reduced month-to-month pricing with no contracts, but rotating inventory, so treat any specific Outlet deal as ephemeral.

Choose Hivelocity if

Migration notes
Inbound is a fresh provision — you build the box and move your stack onto it; there's no managed migration service at the unmanaged tier, so plan the OS install, data transfer, and DNS cutover yourself. Outbound is equally in your hands: nothing is locked, but nothing is done for you either.
Honest limitations
Unmanaged means the ops burden is entirely yours: patching, firewalling, backups, monitoring, and incident response. The ~$97/mo entry price is a genuine bargain only if someone on your team owns that work — a bare-metal box with nobody assigned to operate it is a liability.
