Our take

Now rebranded as Hosting.com, A2 keeps its performance-leaning shared stack (LiteSpeed, NVMe) and developer-friendly tooling baked in.

A2 Hosting, beyond the scorecard

Plan details as published on hosting.com (formerly a2hosting.com), July 2026 — verify with the vendor before you buy.

Plans, as published

A2 Hosting rebranded to Hosting.com (following a January 2025 acquisition by World Host Group), and a2hosting.com now redirects there — if you're comparing old A2 reviews (including ours), map the names first. The shared lineup as published in September 2026: Starter at $3.99/mo intro on a 1-year term (up from $2.99 at our July pass), then Plus at $3.99, Pro at $6.99, and Max at $8.99, on AMD EPYC/NVMe infrastructure with LiteSpeed caching, cPanel, free migration, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The developer-friendly DNA survived the rebrand: SSH access, Git, and multiple PHP versions on shared plans — still unusual at this price.

The renewal math

The renewal rate is no longer displayed publicly as of our September 2026 pass — third-party sources suggest around $14.99/mo for Starter (which would be a ~3.8× delta), but confirm the actual figure at checkout before committing. The old A2 'Turbo' branding has been folded into the new lineup (LiteSpeed and NVMe are now standard on all shared tiers), so verify plan specifics rather than assuming the old plan names.

Renewal figures come from our Hosting Renewal Price Index — intro vs renewal pricing for every provider we cover, verified on vendor sites and dated.

Choose A2 Hosting if

  • Developers who want SSH/Git on cheap shared hosting
  • Sites that benefit from LiteSpeed caching without a managed-host bill
  • cPanel loyalists — this is one of the budget hosts that kept it

Look elsewhere if

  • You want a brand with a long stable identity — the rebrand makes old reviews and old plan names unreliable
  • You need guaranteed support depth — response quality has always varied here
  • Top-tier performance matters enough to pay for managed hosting

Migration notes

Inbound: free site migration is included per the published plans. Outbound: cPanel full backups restore cleanly at any other cPanel host, which makes this one of the lower-friction budget hosts to leave — worth something, given the rebrand churn.

Honest limitations

A rebrand of this size (new domain, new plan names, consolidated product lines) is exactly when documentation, billing edge cases, and support scripts wobble — approach with that expectation. A2's historical 'anytime' pro-rated refund policy is not what the current pages advertise; the published guarantee is 30 days. We've updated our records to match, and we'd verify refund terms at checkout.

Testing status: we haven't load-tested A2 Hosting ourselves yet. This profile is built from vendor documentation, published plan specs and SLAs, and long-running community reports — and the pricing above is verified on the vendor's site, not copied from marketing. See how we test for exactly what that means.
