Our take

The rare shared host that prints its renewal price next to the promo price — and the gap is 1.3×, not 4×. Ticket-first support with a 3-minute typical response is the other reason the r/webhosting crowd keeps naming it.

## Pros

- Renewal rate disclosed on the plan card ($6.71 → $8.95 on Basic)
- LiteSpeed + LSCache, CloudLinux, and Imunify360 standard on every tier
- 24/7 ticket and chat support; Atlanta, Seattle, and Amsterdam data centers

## KnownHost, beyond the scorecard

Plan details as published on knownhost.com, September 25, 2026 — verify with the vendor before you buy.

### Plans, as published

KnownHost's shared lineup runs four tiers, each priced on a 3-year commitment with the renewal printed on the same card: Basic at $6.71/mo (1 site, 1 core, 1 GB RAM, 10 GB NVMe, 5 mailboxes), Standard at $9.71/mo (5 sites, 2 cores, 2 GB, 25 GB), Professional at $14.96/mo (unlimited sites, 4 cores, 4 GB, unlimited NVMe), and Premium at $29.96/mo (6 cores, 6 GB, dedicated IPv4). Every tier includes cPanel, LiteSpeed with LSCache, CloudLinux isolation, Imunify360, free SSL, daily backups, and a choice of Atlanta, Seattle, or Amsterdam.

Managed WordPress is a separate line (Entry $5.98/mo → $11.95 renewal, Business $9.98 → $19.95, Corporate $19.98 → $39.95, all on 3-year terms), and managed VPS starts at $43.25/mo for 4 cores / 6 GB / 100 GB NVMe — the VPS page prints no term or renewal, so we list it as unverified.

### The renewal math

This is the entry most of our shared-hosting table wishes it could copy: Basic renews at $8.95/mo against a $6.71 intro — a 1.3× step, the smallest disclosed renewal gap among the discounting shared hosts we track (Hostinger is 3.7×, SiteGround 6×, IONOS 14×). Standard renews at $12.95 (1.3×), Professional at $19.95 (1.3×), Premium at $39.95 (1.3×). Three years of Basic costs $241.56 up front, then $107.40 a year.

Two caveats from the terms rather than the plan card. Auto-renew is on by default for the same term length unless you cancel at least 7 days before the date (a renewal notice goes out 14 days prior). And 'Unlimited Premium Bandwidth' on the card meets 'a specific monthly bandwidth allowance, which varies by package' and '$20 per TB' overages in the terms of service — we could not find the allowance itself published.

Against the budget brands over five years, folded in from the KnownHost review article that now redirects here: KnownHost at $241.56 for the first three-year term and then $107.40 a year, against Hostinger at $143.52 up front and then $131.88 a year. Hostinger is cheaper to start and KnownHost is cheaper to keep; the crossover lands in year five. That is the whole argument for a host that prints its renewal price on the plan card.

Renewal figures come from our Hosting Renewal Price Index (https://digitalhosting.com/articles/hosting-renewal-prices) — intro vs renewal pricing for every provider we cover, verified on vendor sites and dated.

### Choose KnownHost if

- Buyers who want the renewal price on the plan card before they enter a card number
- Owners who prefer a fast ticket queue (KnownHost quotes a typical 3-minute response) over phone support
- WordPress and small-business sites that want LiteSpeed caching without a managed-WP price tag

### Look elsewhere if

- You need technical phone support — technical help is tickets and live chat; the phone line is sales and billing
- You will not commit to 3 years — the advertised rates require it, and shorter terms cost more
- You run media-heavy or archival workloads — the acceptable-use policy limits storage to active site files and email

### Migration notes

Inbound: free for supported control-panel paths (cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk in any combination); custom or panel-less migrations are $35/hour with a 1-hour minimum. Root or at least SSH access to the old host is preferred. Outbound is standard cPanel — full backups download from the panel, and cPanel-to-cPanel archives restore cleanly at the next host.

### Honest limitations

The 30-day money-back guarantee covers shared, WordPress, and VPS but excludes dedicated servers, domains, and SSL — and it is void if you exceed the bandwidth limit in the first month. The published network SLA is 99.9% (credits scale from 10% at 99.8% to 100% at 99.0%, claim within 5 days), while the marketing pages say 99.99%; the SLA is the number that pays out. We found no 'in-house' or 'US-based support' wording on KnownHost's own pages despite that being a common third-party claim, so we don't repeat it.

### Reported by customers

Dated, attributed accounts from public forums. These are what customers said, not something we verified — we include them because renewal surprises rarely appear on a pricing page. Each carries a status label saying how far we could check it.

- Confirmed by the vendor r/webhosting (https://www.reddit.com/r/webhosting/)read September 25, 2026
The r/webhosting moderators' pinned shortlist 'Best Web Hosting Providers in 2026' (last updated July 15, 2026) names KnownHost as one of five hosts the mod team has personally used and would use again, citing 'true in-house 24/7 support', low-density servers, and a LiteSpeed/Redis/Imunify360 stack. Context that matters: the list is curated by volunteer moderators, not an independent test lab; the mods say they 'occasionally secret-shop support' rather than run load tests; and every listed host keeps a representative active in the subreddit. It is a strong practitioner endorsement — treat it as that, not as a benchmark. The thread's comments are the most consistent praise we have seen for any host on Reddit — customers of ten and fifteen years crediting ticket responses 'within 1 minute' and an owner who steps into complex tickets — with one dissent: a two-year customer reporting a small WordPress site 'often down or extremely slow', answered publicly by KnownHost's account asking for a ticket number. One commenter flagged bandwidth limits as a concern; a moderator replied that every host meters somewhere and disclosed limits are preferable.
Vendor response: KnownHost's official account (KH-DanielP) is active in the thread: it confirmed the renewal model — first-term discount, then 'the full rate', with longer terms still discounted against the monthly rate and the option to shorten the term at renewal — and responded to the downtime complaint within the thread.
What we could check: The renewal statement matches the 'Renews at' figures on knownhost.com, which is why this report carries the vendor-confirmed label. We cannot verify individual customers' uptime or response-time experiences; KnownHost is a Cohort 2 monitor in our uptime study as of September 25, 2026, so independent numbers will follow.

Testing status: we haven't load-tested KnownHost ourselves yet. This profile is built from vendor documentation, published plan specs and SLAs, and long-running community reports — and the pricing above is verified on the vendor's site, not copied from marketing. See how we test (https://digitalhosting.com/how-we-test) for exactly what that means.
