# InMotion Hosting Review: The Renewal Is Printed on the Card

InMotion Hosting does the thing almost no discounting host does: it prints the renewal price on the plan card, right next to the intro price. Launch is $4.79/mo on a three-year term and $14.99/mo after that — 3.1×, disclosed in advance, with 90 days to change your mind. Two things decide this purchase, and the headline price is neither of them.

Summary verdict

## Our verdict

For a US small business that wants phone support and a path from shared hosting into managed VPS with one vendor, InMotion is an easy shortlist entry — and the disclosure is the reason. Two qualifications actually decide it. First, the stack: InMotion deliberately does not run LiteSpeed. Its UltraStack is NGINX, PHP-FPM, and OPcache, so if your WordPress performance plan assumes LSCache, this is the wrong host by design. Second, the term: three years of Launch is $172.44 up front and then $179.88 a year, so the annual bill after year three exceeds the entire first term. The 90-day money-back guarantee — the longest we track — is what makes finding out cheap.

## The two things that decide this purchase

The first is the caching stack, and it is a deliberate choice rather than an omission. InMotion does not run LiteSpeed: UltraStack is NGINX with PHP-FPM and OPcache, which the company says lets it tune the stack without licence constraints. If you are coming from a LiteSpeed host and your performance plan is built on LSCache — the plugin, the cache rules, the habits — you are rebuilding that layer here. If you have no particular attachment to LSCache, this is simply a different, well-known way to serve PHP.

The second is support access, which is gated by tier. Launch at $4.79/mo is chat and ticket only; phone support starts at Power ($5.79/mo intro, renewing at $18.99). That is worth knowing before you buy the cheapest plan on the strength of InMotion's support reputation, because the entry plan does not include the channel most people mean when they say they want support.

Everything else about the lineup is conventional in a good way: a free domain, SSL, cPanel email, unmetered bandwidth, free migration, and a 90-day money-back guarantee on all three shared tiers, from data centres in Virginia, California, and Amsterdam. The tier-by-tier detail — site counts, storage, visit allowances — is on our provider profile rather than reprinted here.

## The renewal math, printed where you can see it

Verified in a browser session on September 25, 2026 (InMotion's public pages return 403 to automated fetches, so this one has to be read by hand): Launch $4.79/mo renewing at $14.99, Power $5.79 renewing at $18.99, Pro $10.59 renewing at $25.99 — all on three-year terms, with each renewal figure printed on its own plan card.

Those multiples are 3.1×, 3.3×, and 2.5×. That puts InMotion in the same band as Hostinger (3.7×) and DreamHost (3.8×), well under SiteGround (6×) and nowhere near IONOS (14×). The absolute arithmetic matters more than the multiple, though: $172.44 covers three years of Launch, and year four alone is $179.88. Budget the renewal, not the intro.

The disclosure itself is a genuine point in InMotion's favour — the number is on the card, not in the cart — and the 90-day refund window lowers the cost of being wrong more than any other guarantee we track. Those two things together are most of the reason this brand reads as trustworthy on price, and they cost the company real money to offer.

## Uptime: what we can and cannot say about InMotion

InMotion is one of the original 37 providers in our uptime study, and it is also the clearest example of a provider our method struggles to measure. Its homepage monitor was US-only because the site blocks other probes; from August 31 that single probe began receiving HTTP 403 bot-wall responses, that window is excluded from the study as a measurement artifact rather than downtime, and the homepage monitor was retired on September 10, 2026 after the datacenter-IP blocking.

What remained is a separate four-region check against the robots.txt edge, and it has recorded no incidents through September 22, 2026. Be precise about what that is: it measures the edge that answers that one request, not the homepage, and it is not equivalent to the availability record we publish for other providers.

So InMotion appears in none of our published availability figures — not in the hard-downtime table, not in the degraded-time table, and not on the list of ten providers that finished the window with zero incidents of any kind. There is no InMotion uptime result in this study, and the absence of recorded incidents on an edge check is not a clean record. Anyone citing an uptime number for InMotion is not citing us.

## InMotion vs KnownHost: same honesty, different slope

KnownHost is the sharpest comparison because it shares InMotion's defining virtue and beats it on the numbers. It also prints the renewal on the plan card: Basic is $6.71/mo on a three-year commitment, renewing at $8.95 — 1.3×, the smallest disclosed gap of any discounting shared host we track, against InMotion's 3.1×. In year four that is $8.95/mo versus $14.99/mo.

InMotion counters with things KnownHost does not match: 90 days of refund rights against KnownHost's published 30, phone support from the Power tier where KnownHost is tickets and chat only, a free domain (KnownHost includes none), and an in-house path into managed VPS. And the stacks differ in exactly the way that matters above — KnownHost runs cPanel with LiteSpeed and LSCache, InMotion runs NGINX UltraStack. If LSCache is in your plan, that decides it before the price does.

## What this review is based on

This is not a hands-on account review. We do not hold an account with InMotion, have not deployed a site on it, have not benchmarked it, and have not called its support line. It rests on the vendor's published plan pages and terms, read on a dated pass — September 25, 2026, in a real browser session, because inmotionhosting.com returns 403 to automated fetches, which is also why this provider sat on a placeholder in our records for months — plus our own external availability monitoring, which in InMotion's case produced no publishable result for the reasons set out above.

What that can tell you: what the company commits to in writing, the intro price and renewal price for each tier and the billing term behind them, which support channels come with which plan, the refund window, and how the migration offer is structured. What it cannot tell you: real-world page speed on your workload, how the support feels when something breaks, how good the control panel is, or whether the no-downtime migration promise holds in practice. Against that, 90 days of refund rights is an unusually cheap way to answer those questions yourself.

One third-party signal is worth naming, with its limits. The r/webhosting moderators' pinned shortlist (last updated July 15, 2026) names InMotion as one of five hosts the mod team has personally used and would use again, citing 25 years of independent private ownership, self-owned hardware and network, and 24/7 human support. That is a practitioner endorsement from volunteer moderators, not an independent test lab: the mods describe occasionally secret-shopping support rather than running load tests, every listed host keeps a representative active in the subreddit, and no InMotion representative had posted in the thread when we read it. Separately, InMotion's 25-year CNET certified, BBB A+, and NPS 54 lines are the company's own marketing claims and we have not verified them.

### Best fit for

- + US small businesses that want phone support and a clean path into managed VPS with the same company
- + Agencies at the Pro tier — WHM with up to four isolated cPanel accounts and a dedicated IP on a shared plan is unusual
- + Anyone who wants 90 days, not 30, to decide

### Consider another option if

- − Your WordPress stack assumes LiteSpeed or LSCache — InMotion runs NGINX UltraStack by design
- − You want phone support at the entry tier — Launch is chat and ticket only
- − You won't diarize month 35 — the monthly cost roughly triples at renewal

## FAQ

Close to it, and the company tells you so up front. Launch is $4.79/mo on a three-year term and renews at $14.99/mo — 3.1× — with the renewal figure printed on the plan card. Power renews at $18.99 (3.3×) and Pro at $25.99 (2.5×). Three years of Launch costs $172.44; the fourth year alone is $179.88.
